DNL Students Explore the Future of Industry at the Jules Verne Manufacturing Academy
On Wednesday, February 26th, students from the DNL class visited the Jules Verne Manufacturing Academy (JVMA), located near the Nantes airport. JVMA is a training center where students and industrial partners come together to explore the latest technologies of Industry 4.0.
The visit began with a presentation by the director, who explained the four major industrial revolutions, from the steam engine of the 18th century to today’s use of data, automation, and smart systems. Students saw how fast the world of industry is evolving through examples like the transformation of Île de Nantes.
To make the discovery more interactive, students took part in a Cluedo-style game around the factory. With tablets in hand, they followed clues and learned about the roles of robots, cobots, and various machines used to manufacture parts of scooters.
Later, a digital goose game tested their knowledge of industrial history through fun facts and questions, encouraging teamwork and curiosity in a playful environment.
One of the highlights of the day was trying augmented reality headsets. Students learned how cobots (collaborative robots) work and even interacted with virtual elements, blending the digital and real worlds. These cobots are designed to work safely alongside humans, making them a key part of modern manufacturing.
This visit offered a perfect mix of theory and hands-on experience, giving students a deeper understanding of robotics, innovation, and the future of work. Engaging activities like the Cluedo, goose game, and AR demos made the learning experience both fun and memorable. The students were enthusiastic from start to finish, and the warm welcome made this visit truly unforgettable.
